Grow Heirloom Herbs - Plant Absinthe Wormwood Seeds

Sometimes known as Green Ginger, Wormwood is a common component of the legendary spirit absinthe. While it has long been used medicinally, believed to be a digestive aid, it is Wormwood's relation to the liqueur known as the green fairy that makes it the subject of literature and legend. We think this attractive perennial with its feathery grey-green foliage and bright yellow flowers makes a delightful addition to any garden setting.

The plant is very week after germination and several of the plants died and the plants that survived look good, but will not flower until the 2nd year. I will have to wait until the 2nd year to harvest for potent medicine.

Store owner replied: Hello Mark N. Thank you for sharing your experience with the Absinthe Wormwood and for providing such helpful feedback about your planting results. We are glad that some of your seedlings survived and are now looking healthy, although we understand the disappointment of losing several of the young plants. Wormwood seedlings can be delicate early on and generally benefit from bright light, excellent drainage, good airflow, and careful watering, as overly wet conditions can contribute to weak seedlings or damping off. As a perennial, Absinthe Wormwood often concentrates on developing its roots and foliage during its first season, with more substantial flowering expected once the plant is established in a subsequent season. We are glad we were able to work with you on a resolution that met your needs, and we truly appreciate the detailed growing feedback you provided, as it can be helpful to us and to other gardeners growing this perennial from seed!

After ordering wormwood seed from another seed vendor and having zero germination from their seed, I was ecstatic when I planted a flat of wormwood seed from Eden brothers and the entire flat is a sea of green wormwood seedlings!!! Thank you Eden Brothers, I have had good luck with all your seeds so far.
