Customer photo review of Dichondra Seeds - Silver Falls

Beware, when starting from seeds do not pull up the little "grasslike weeds". Who would have imagined that those two long thin dicotelydons were Silver Falls Dicondra?! Also slow germination even on heat mats but once they finally develop a bit of size, they can take off! My favorite spiller but it does want some sun to full sun to put on its show. Hardy in zones 10-12 and too much trouble to try to take through the winter, worth starting new seeds each year.

    Dichondra Seeds - Silver Falls

I had a 50% germination rate and with only 10 seeds a packet, I had to buy more which is disappointing. This is my first time with this plant, I hope they turn out like they are pictured.

Store owner replied: Hello Hollie, We appreciate you sharing your experience with these seeds and are glad you’re giving this beautiful trailing plant a try. A 50% germination rate is understandably disappointing when a specialty packet contains a smaller number of seeds. In Zone 5, Silver Falls is best treated as a warm-season annual and is often easiest to start indoors about 6–8 weeks before the last frost. The seeds should be sown shallowly and kept consistently moist, but not saturated, in warm conditions around 70–75°F; a humidity dome can help maintain moisture until seedlings emerge. Once established, gradually hardening the plants off before moving them outdoors can help prevent transplant stress, and a sunny location with well-drained soil will encourage the dense, silvery cascading growth this variety is known for. We’re glad we had the opportunity to provide a resolution and truly appreciate your understanding. We hope the seedlings you have continue filling out beautifully and give you the striking Silver Falls display you were looking forward to!

I recieved my seeds yesterday and there were exactly 10 seeds in the packet. I cannot find anywhere where it states there are only 10 seeds. As a gardener of 40 years I have never ever purchased a pack of seeds with 10 seeds in it
