Customer photo review of Arkansas Wildflower Seed Mix

They work in the ground and in containers. I have tossed these into my front container and it has been flowers since late spring and there are new varieties growing up behind these blooms. A late planting was made just in front and to the right in the ground and they have sprouted nicely and I expect flowers in July. Prep was minimal. Broke the ground about 2 inches deep and left about 1 inch clods. Sprinkled the seeds by hand and lightly covered with potting mix mostly just to better see where I planted and to hide seeds from the birds as my feeder is nearby. Arkansas is bug central but these have had no pest problems.

I planted in late February in ground that was already excavated during a retaining wall project. I loosened about ¼” of soil, spread the seed densely and then used a garden tool to lightly mix the seed into ¼” of loosened soil. I watered consistently for about 3-4 weeks and now I water only if we haven’t had a rain shower in 5-7 days. I have really enjoyed the surprises this mix brings with new blooms nearly every week. My neighbors have been very complimentary and the mix is already attracting bumblebees and butterflies!

I bought the AR Wildflowers and could not wait for a beautiful yard of color! But a freak storm came after planting and we had so much rain over a 4 day period that my end of the block flooded and I guess washed them all away because nothing every came up or bloomed. Great offering of flowers, sadly washed away. But I'm going to try again!
