Customer photo review of Black Eyed Susan Seeds - Cherokee Sunset

Very easy to germinate and grow as long as you follow the instructions. I started mine in a greenhouse over the winter and grew it up before putting it in a planter. Proud to say my picture looks as good as (or better!) than the website's photos!

    didn't grow

Black Eyed Susan Seeds - Cherokee Sunset

Store owner replied: Hello Alice C. Thank you for writing in to let us know about your experience. Black-Eyed Susan seed should be surface sown or only very lightly covered because light aids germination, with consistent moisture while establishing. Cool soil after a May sowing, allowing the seedbed to dry out, planting too deeply, or heavy rain washing or burying the small seeds could all reduce establishment. For Zone 5, cold stratification can also improve germination for many perennial/biennial Rudbeckia, so a fall sowing is a good option for another attempt because winter naturally provides the cold period. We have reached out to offer tips and a resolution, but we have not heard back from you yet. Please feel free to respond to that original email, and we'd be happy to help you further. We want you to have these beautiful flowers and have another chance to get them in your garden!

None of mine germinated, my other black eyed Susan’s did but not this variety

Black Eyed Susan Seeds - Cherokee Sunset

Store owner replied: Hello Lizbeth. Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry this particular Black-Eyed Susan variety did not germinate for you. Black-Eyed Susan seeds can sometimes germinate unevenly, and factors such as moisture, temperature, planting depth, and seed-to-soil contact can affect emergence. However, having success with other Black-Eyed Susans in the same garden is useful comparative information and makes the complete lack of germination with this variety worth noting. We are glad we were able to provide a resolution and appreciate you bringing your experience to our attention. We hope your next planting brings you much better results!

No germination at all with any of the seeds. I’ve had good luck with other rudbeckia seeds from Eden Brothers, but could not get a single seed to germinate.
