I tried these last year and only one took off. I was determined to this year so I ordered double hoping a couple would take off. But no such luck.

Store owner replied: Hello Cassie Hensley. Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear that you didn't have better success with these milkweed roots, especially after trying them for a second season. Milkweed roots can sometimes be slow to emerge, and factors such as soil moisture, drainage, soil temperature, and planting depth can all affect establishment. Because you've experienced similar challenges with multiple varieties over more than one season, we would still encourage a soil test if you haven't had one performed already, as underlying soil conditions can sometimes impact a wide range of plants. We previously reached out and offered a resolution and to help you troubleshoot, but have not yet heard back. If you'd like to move forward with that offer, please reply to our email. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and would be happy to help. Thank you for your feedback and for giving this variety another try!

First year growing these from roots and they are 4’tall and blooming very nicely! I believe the key is good sandy soil mixture.

We ended up with four roots. All the roots took off and grew nicely. Just waiting now for them to flower.

VERY DISAPPOINTED. Bought a 6 pack of the bare root milkweed. Directions for planting on the website were for seeds. Did my best from a YouTube video. Only 2 of the 6 actually came up. Cancelled an order for bulbs to plant in the fall. Didn’t want to be disappointed again !

Store owner replied: Hello ELizabeth R. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We greatly appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It's so important to have feedback like this so we can continually improve our products and processes. After speaking with our Customer Service Team, it seems we were able to assist you with this. The planting instructions are listed under planting information tab, but we know not everyone sees that. We have passed along that feedback to our website team, so they can update that video. Thanks for your time in sharing your experience with us and please know you can always reach out to us in Customer Service if needed as well!

Still early hopefully all stems will develop flowers. Now 1 of 3!

Store owner replied: Hello John U. Thanks for your feedback for us at Eden Brothers. We are sorry to hear that only one of your Butterfly Milkweed roots bloomed this year. It’s not uncommon for some perennial roots to take an extra season to establish before flowering, especially with native varieties like milkweed. With continued care, the others should catch up and bloom beautifully in the next growing season. After speaking with our Customer Service Team, it seems we were able to assist you further. Thanks for your time in sharing your experience with us!

Only 2 of the 3 roots I ordered last year grew. I put them in pots and they only grew to about 20-24 inches. This year, the shortest stem is 36 inches while the tallest is 55 inches. I was not expecting such tall plants, but I love it. Fingers crossed, we get lots of caterpillars this year.

I bought these are part of a present for my sister, and she reported that they were delivered quickly, and the bulbs were all healthy looking - some had even just started to sprout. She planted them and apparently everything is doing well and showing good signs of growth. Bonus points that the packaging has delighted her cat.
