Ranunculus Butterfly Hades is another stunning from the newest Ranunculus Butterfly series out of Japan. Fully double layers of petals in lovely, bright, lipstick-red that turns bronze as the flower opens up to full maturity. Hades is a taller variety with strong, lengthy stems carrying anywhere from 5 to 20 flowers per stem that are just begging to be cut and brought indoors. Like all blooms in the Butterfly series, petals have a coated sheen that gives them a sparkling appearance and a long vase life.

Note: In Zones 8–10, ranunculus are grown as perennials—plant in fall for spring blooms. In Zones 4–7, they are treated as cool-season annuals. Start corms indoors in late winter and transplant after nights stay above 30°F, or dry-store them and plant in spring after hard frosts.

Unauthorized reproduction and sale of corms is prohibited by the breeder.

  • • Expect at least 5 and up to 20 flowers per stem which may require support such as staking or netting
  • • Add a soft, wildflower-type elegance to the garden and vase
  • • Plants are twice as large as traditional ranunculus

These flowers were beautiful. Wonderful color! They came up with many stalks, and were very sturdy and healthy. I kept up on the deadheading and they kept blooming for quite a while.
