Customer photo review of Hyssop Seeds

I thought I was buying what is pictured. However, the current picture for this product appears to be something like Agastache foeniculum aka Anise Hyssop. What I got was Hyssopus officinalis, which is Hyssop. The product information is correct, but the picture is wrong. Before buying this, make sure you want Hyssopus officinalis. Unfortunately, I wanted Agastache foeniculum and didn't read the product information closely.

    Hyssop Seeds

Rachel wrote you EVEVEN MONTHS AGO that the photo of the Hyssop plant is NOT the correct photo for the seeds you send to paying customers. You have had eleven months to change the photo to the correct plant photo, but it hasn't been changed. You really don't care, do you? There are many seed and bulb companies out there. I just placed my first order with Eden bros last week and it was just shipped, but I am really having second thoughts and hope I didn't make a big mistake. The majority of people buying flowers select their purchase based on the PHOTO OF THE PRODUCT. Your being made aware of this photo error 11 months ago and your doing nothing shows just how little you care about your customers.

Store owner replied: Hello Craig S. Thank you for taking the time to write in to us at Eden Brothers. We are sorry for the delay and that it has caused you to rethink your recent order! We do care about this and the photo is under review. We were first alerted to this mid-January and the team is aware and working on getting the correct image. If there is any other way we can help you please reach back out to us and we will do our best to address any concerns. We appreciate your patience while they look into this!

There were only 12 seeds in the packet I received. I couldn't believe it. Don't waste your money.

    Hyssop Seeds

Store owner replied: Hello Jacquie. Thank you for your review of Eden Brothers! We are very sorry to hear about the seed count issue in your packet. This definitely sounds like a mistake, as our packets typically contain approximately 300+ seeds, for this variety. Our seed counts are listed under the planting information tab, on each variety page. After speaking with our Customer Service Team, it seems we were able to help you with this. If you ever find a error please reach out to us, so we can assist you. We truly appreciate you bringing it to our attention!

Decided to try this plant for my bees based on recommendation by Fred Dunn. Purchased eight 72 segment starter trays with clear lids. Due to small size of seeds, I just dipped a moist finger into seed and tried to sprinkle a few on top of each cell loaded with starter mix, wet them down with spray bottle of water, put on the lids, and set them on floor near a window. On the 5th day I have a plants about 1/4" tall in every single cell. Will probably need to either thin them out or transplant into larger containers before long. Ordered four 1 oz. packs and did not use much over half of one pack for seven trays. very pleased so far. Will also try to direct plant in soil when time to move these out in my bee yard.

    Hyssop Seeds

I've been planting hyssop for years, and tend to direct sew the seed. This year I decided to start them inside and placed the Hyssop Seeds on damp paper-towel segments, inside plastic baggies. They nearly all germinated in less than 5 days. Once they had white root stems longer than the seed, I picked up the seed and dropped each into its own starter pod. They are all doing very well. In the past, I experienced poor germination. Starting them in this way more than doubled the yield. Easily more than 9 out of ten seeds are growing. I am VERY pleased with the quality of seed, and germination rate. I absolutely recommend this seed/plant if you are growing for pollinators. High nectar yields throughout the growing seasons. From bumble bees to honey bees, all are strongly attracted to this variety of hyssop.

    Hyssop Seeds

I tried growing Hyssop from Seed two years in a row. I purchased them here both years. A very tiny percentage of the seeds germinated. There are no descriptions here regarding the specific species of hyssop that is being offered. Then are not all the same. I purchased seeds from another supplier and had very high germination and success. So now I know it's not my methods, but rather the quality of seed that was and is the issue. I won't buy them again unless there is some confirmation regarding the subspecies/type or improved germination. I cannot and do not recommend these seeds. I do recommend Eden Brothers over all, this is the only seed I've had issue with.
