Customer photo review of Lily of the Nile

Very disappointed in the quality of these bulbs. I have purposely ordered from several nurseries to develop a variety of colors. The ones sent that arrived yesterday are dismal. Dried out roots, withered leaves. I know and understand that this is late to order and plant but they should be offered for sale if this is the quality that are sent.

I have purchased this Item now three different times and It takes them a while to get up par. I was surprised when that last batch one of the lot decided to bloom. They usually don't to that for me until the 2=3 year. As you can see I keep coming back though

    Lily of the Nile

The bulbs sent up a few green shoots, but no stems or blooms emerged.

    Lily of the Nile

Store owner replied: Hello JANE F. Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry that they produced only a few green shoots without progressing to stems or blooms. Since the plants did emerge, the roots were viable, but when newly planted they can spend the first season establishing roots and foliage rather than flowering, particularly when planted later in spring as temperatures are rising. For future growers, Lily of the Nile performs best with plenty of sun, well-draining soil, consistent moisture without soggy conditions, and time to become established. While first-year blooms cannot always be expected from newly planted roots, we understand the disappointment when growth remained so limited. We are glad we were able to provide a resolution and appreciate your willingness to try again. We hope your next planting establishes strongly and brings you the blooms you were looking forward to!

Zone 7. Planted in full sun in a pot that was well drained and kept them watered as needed. It is October and I've removed the tubers which survived, each produced 4-6 skinny leaves 4-8 inches long. NO flowers, not even nice foliage. $50 for 9 tubers I expected a lot more. One thing that is particularly unhelpful is Eden didn't provide the variety so I'm not entirely sure how to overwinter them. $50 down the drain. Lesson learned - only buy from quality nurseries that tell me what I'm getting.

First year growing these flowers, we ordered several and only 3 survived, says 48” in height however ours is about10”. Very pretty flower but I’m hoping they will get taller next year
