Daffodils are usually very reliable, but factors like drainage, planting depth, or winter conditions can impact performance, as bulbs need well-drained soil, or they can rot out. They are best planted about 6 inches deep, as excess moisture or freeze/thaw cycles can sometimes cause losses.
