Customer photo review of Tulip Bulbs - Valdivia

I purchased these tulip bulbs two years ago and every one of them came up looking even better than the photo online! So impressed!! So I purchased several more sets and cannot wait for spring in Western New York State to see them all appear XO

I don’t know why but these tulip bulbs didn’t produce. They are pictured on the website as being beautiful and I couldn’t wait to see them in my garden so I’m disappointed that they never grew.

Store owner replied: Hello Susan G. Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your specialty tulips did not grow. We understand how disappointing it is to look forward to spring blooms and not see them emerge. In Zone 9, specialty tulips often require 10–12 weeks of chilling at 35–45°F before planting because winters may not provide enough natural cold for proper growth and flowering. Placing the bulbs in a paper or mesh bag in the refrigerator before planting, can help satisfy this requirement. Be careful to keep them away from ripening fruit. Since you mentioned you've successfully grown tulips in the past, your higher elevation may provide more winter chill than many Zone 9 locations, but some specialty varieties can still benefit from additional pre-chilling for the most reliable performance. We are glad we had the opportunity to provide a resolution. At Eden Brothers, we stand behind our products and appreciate your feedback. We hope you'll enjoy better success with your next tulip planting!
